Welcome To St Charbel's College
2009 marks the Silver Jubilee of St Charbel’s College – representing 25 years of passion, hard work and success for the Lebanese Maronite Order of Monks, staff and the students.
St Charbel’s College was founded to by the Lebanese Maronite Order (LMO) of Monks to ensure that the Maronite Catholic faith will continue in Australia. Opening its doors to students on 1 February 1984 with 78 students, the College has grown and today has more than 1,100 students.
To celebrate this milestone, a series of spiritual, cultural and social events have been planned throughout 2009. These events will showcase the contribution over the past twenty-five years of the College.
Our extended LMO family in Lebanon joined us for our Silver Jubilee celebrations. For the first time in Australia, members of the Université Saint-Esprit de Kaslik Choir from Lebanon presented The Cedar Melodies concert on Monday 28 September 2009, in the majestic Concert Hall at the Sydney Opera House.
And on Wednesday 30 September 2009, the Official Opening Ceremony of St Neemtallah Building, Bl Mary MacKillop Centre and the laying of the Foundation Stone for the Multi-Purpose Hall took place in presence of spiritual and political leaders, distinguished guests, parents and friends of the college and the entire school community. The ceremony was followed by the opening of the art expo, The Making of Our History. The dedication of our staff, the assistance of the Parents and Friends Association and the cooperation of our students made this day a success and another landmark in the history of our College. The Silver Jubilee of St Charbel’s College will culminate in a mass celebrated by His Eminence George Cardinal Pell, Archbishop of Sydney, on Thursday 10 December.
